Bugs ..?
Madpom > 2015/12/22 14:59
The bug that was stopping people from sending personal messages has been fixed - sorry about that and thanks to @bernieq for the email pointing it out.
Bernieq > 2015/08/04 19:39
Yep, that's working too.
Now, can you ....... :))
Madpom > 2015/08/04 18:55
Fixed. I hope!
Madpom > 2015/08/04 16:42
Cheers - will look into that.

Chrome (and less frequently, Firefox) on Win XP.
A little further investigation clarifies the issue - the problem arises only after dragging the map pane sizing line (to make the map pane larger or smaller).
If I load the website then resize the window, the text pane flows to fill the additional width, as expected.
However, if I resize the map pane, the text pane apparently becomes fixed in size so that increasing the window size results in white space on the right of the text pane. (decreasing the window size results in a scroll bar at the bottom).
Occurs with both browsers - simple workaround is to refresh the page at the new window size (although that loses the map scale).
Madpom > 2015/08/04 14:32
Puzzling. I don't have a monitor that big to test with, but with an extended desktop across 2 monitors can stretch the browser window to 2616x1024 - and the site fills the full window.
Qs)
- What browser do you use?
- What do you see when you have larger resolutions? - e.g. site centred with white bands down each side? Does the whole site fail to fill the window, or is it just the map pane or text pane that fails to expand?
Bernieq > 2015/08/04 11:45
Yep, that looks good.
BTW, the max extent of a page seems to be 1280 x 1024 ? Is it possible to make that bigger ? eg I have a 1920 x 1200 screen - it means I have a lot of real estate that's not able to be used. It would be good to have a big map pane with a decent text width as well.
Madpom > 2015/08/04 09:22
Yes - On my todo list (for ages, as usual) is enabling some of those search-for tick-boxes by default. Search for everything, by name only - sound like a good default setting?
Bernieq > 2015/08/01 21:45
Hmmm, OK - no problem with search function (see previous post) - I wasn't selecting where to search in, just what to search for !
Bernieq > 2015/08/01 20:23
Added a few photos today and linked them to various places but could not get the search function to return any results (had to navigate to the link object instead).
Madpom > 2015/07/31 08:05
@bernieq: A well aimed kick there - been meaning to sort that out for ages!
Display of coordinates in any of the supported coordinate formats is coming ... with the other map updates.
Bernieq > 2015/07/30 00:18
Not a bug, as such, but 5 decimal point accuracy on the map pointer co-ordinates certainly challenges my compass work !
Perhaps round up/down to integer?
... and I'm finding legibility of the map pointer co-ordinate difficult at times - perhaps a white (or yellow) background behind the numbers?
Bernieq > 2015/07/07 23:51
Thanks Matt
Note : I'm just reporting bugs - not requesting a fix. You CAN add them to the to-do list and fix later !

Wrong navigation from edit route screen is fixed now.
Madpom > 2015/07/06 19:48
Yes - it's taking you to the wrong page after editing - it should take you to view the route you've just edited - (which is a page from which map navigation is enabled). Instead it's taking you to the add route screen, where map navigation is disabled because it expects you to select a startplace. (if you look at the top-left icon above the map it tells you what clicking on the map does at any time (i) for show info about the place/route, ( ) for nothing, and a pointer for select)
I'll fix the navigation so it takes you to the correct page, where clicking to navigate is enabled.
As an excuse - I've not got to routes yet on my test-writing! They're the hardest so leaving them till last!
Bernieq > 2015/07/06 19:03
Hi Matt - small bug, I think : after having updated a route segment, I can't select another segment (click but get no response).
I can change page to another (eg mail or forum) then click on a segment and load it without a problem.
Madpom > 2015/07/01 08:06
There have been quite a few issues with the site lately. A recent upgrade to the OS broke the mailer which broke the signup / forgotten password features. A complete rewrite to the security model which was required to allow non-registered users to create trips broke many things - including the new route segment form, history and the 'current trip' link. These are all fixed now, and an intensive effort is underway to get some automated testing in place. This should be complete in the next week or two, and should pick up any other things that have been impacted by these changes, as well as detecting these issues before they happen in future.
'Sorry for the inconvenience' as the cliche goes, and I hope anyone who's run into these problems persists with the site.
The good news is that the database rebuild ran fine (3rd time lucky), and as such route segments that connect part-way along (segments connected via 'linked places', rather than start-place or end-place) now appear in the find-end-to-end and places you can go from here results.
Madpom > 2015/06/27 11:01
Sorry folks - stuffed up the database rebuild earlier int he week, so it's running again. This will take up to 24 hours and in the meantime 'places you can go from here' and 'find by start end end place' will not work.
Madpom > 2015/06/26 07:34
When replying to a message you should not need to select to 'to' from the list. It should automatically go to the sender of the message you reply to.
Madpom > 2015/06/26 07:33
Database rebuild complete. Site fully functional again
Madpom > 2015/06/25 15:25
Routing database is being rebuilt to resolve the above issue. This will take up to 24 hours and in the meantime 'places you can go from here' and 'find by start end end place' will not work.
Madpom > 2015/06/23 19:12
need to highlight inaccurcies in times and distances when showing routes to/from linked places part-way along a route segment
Madpom > 2014/11/22 22:15
Yes - I need to disallow zooming out too far. I'll put it on the list as a bug.
Hugh vn > 2014/11/21 17:07
While trying to answer a subject in forums, left the page (bad move! lost my typing) , on return to forum page the map appeared to not be displaying. seems when zoomed out too far the map is blank but the routes still show (as dots mainly).
