A 500mx500m expanse of regenerating thick scrub on a former clearing - somewhere within which the two unmaintained tracks meet - Pukekohu Range track from Whakatakaa to Waiotekapiti Hut, and the track dropping east to Maranui Bay on Lake Waikaremoane.

Neither track has been marked, cut or maintained since the late 70's/early 80's. Be prepared for hard going.

Don't waste time looking for the junction - map & compass to get yourself off along the right ridge or spur, and search for it once the vegetation improves.
