Point at which the unmaintained track from lake Waikaremoana / Whakatakaa Hut drops into Te Waiotukapiti Stream. Marked by a (very optimistic) signpost. Reasonable campspots exits on terraces at this point Supposedly a crosses the creek and climbs the western bank, taking the ridgeline to the cage over the river at Kaiotukapiti Hut, but in normal flows, the route downstream seemed better than another 3km on uncut, unmaintained scrubby ridgeline tracks
