A carpark on private land at the start of the Sunrise track. 1km before the end of North Block Road, which is reached from Ongaonga along the Wakarara Road, turning left at Wakarara (signposted Sunrise Track).

The landowner is picky about dogs, so even if you have a hunting permit you may require permission. Alternatively, you can drive to the Waipawa River and unload there on crown land if dogs/permission are an issue. You'd then have to head up the Waipawa instead of the Sunrise track.
