Transmission tower on the border of public (DOC) land in the eastern Richmond Ranges. Access is not easy.

Legal access is available from the north from Ngakuta Bay - a track runs right along the boundary of DOC land, mainly inside the public boundary, ending 100m north of the summit ridgeline. See wams air photos for details.

If you can get permission, then simpler access is available from Picton. A track climbs through forestry from Shakespeare Bay to the TV tower at the Summit. In 2006 all but one parcel of the land along this track was council owned, but I suspect that may have since changed. Local Picton Rotary Club runs occasional trips up there, so may be able to advise.
