Magnificent place to camp. Best views of the Rob Roy Glacier in the whole Matukituki can be had from nearby Red Rock on a fantastic sided trip. Small tarns may be present on the pass itself but are ephemeral. The larger tarn shown on topomaps 80m down the northern valleyside provides a sheltered spot in most winds and year-round water.
