Flat ground, clear of tussock, on the floor of the hanging valley at the head of the west branch of Mistake Creek, between the tarn and the stream shown on the map. In April 2016 the stream was underground and the tarn was almost entirely dried up accept for a small pool in one corner of the tarn area, and a couple of pools in the stream bed. Its possible in certain years there's no water up here, above the west branch waterfall.
