Mountain Track Road is closed to public vehicles north of Walker Road, but open to walkers / cyclists. An easy walk down a metaled forestry road leads from the Rongomai Track turnoff, 1km north to the signposted turnoff to PJ Cox Hut and the Silverpeaks loop track.
