Access to Ngamoko Range via Deerford and Shorts Tracks. Crosses farmland and creek, then climbs through beech forest. This route follows right-hand section of Deerford Loop track, although either can be taken. The right sidles along before climbing steeply through beech forest and open grassy track affording great views of the central plateau. Left fork passes start of Knights Track before zigzagging steeply through beech forest. Shorts Track begins from the top of the Deerford loop, just below the leatherwood. Track is easy to follow, although can be overgrown with ferns and hook grass at certain times of the year (wear gaiters!). Gradient is steady, but not brutal.
