A good 4WD track runs up the north-eastern side of the Nigger/Poulter valley between Lochinvar Hut and Bull Creek Hut. This crosses Mt White Station land and permission is required.

From Bull Creek Hut, follow the riverbed 250m downriver and cross to the start of the 4WD track opposite. The river is generally ankle deep but can easily become impassable after rain. The track climbs from the Poulter onto terraces above, then climbs again to sidle to the Mounds of Misery and into the Nigger. About 1.5km after leaving the morraine debris of the Mounds, you find an airstrip on the valley floor and a track junction, with a track cutting back west and climbing gentle faces to Lochinvar Hut on the southern bushedge.
