Cross the swingbridge at the carpark and follow a good track up the east bank of the Hurunui, swinging into the Jollie. The track becomes indistinct up broad broom-choked valley flats - and must be rediscovered at the end of each flat as it enters bush. Frequent river crossings are required - knee deep in average winter flows - do not believe the map showing the track all the way up the true right.

The forks with the Cold Stream are obvious, but not signposted.
