Follow the spur down from the biv over private land. Climb onto the small knob at the bushedge 150m from the main river, then drop into the next creek north of the biv - good deer trails cut through the scrub to the clear terrace below. Follow the terrace / creek down to the Waimakariri where a well-used campspot exists in trees above a sandy river beach just on the DOC boundary. 20-40 minutes
