From the low point of the ridge north of Pt 1777 climb to the south up steady slopes. These curve up to the east to reach the summit of Pt 1777, but if you don't want to summit scree slopes on the western side can be traversed across, The scree is descent but loose, an ice axe is useful. When the Acheron Lakes come into view, descend down the ridge to the southwest, eventually dropping down tussock slopes to near the lake shore. Follow this round to the southwest corner of the lake where a low valley climbs away from the lake to the southwest.
