A broad ridge makes its way down from the summit of Spence Peak to the saddle with the Telford burn north branch. Alternatively, if you've camped at the trans north of Spence Peak, traverse slopes at about the 1400m contour to reach the saddle. Descend steep scree down into the Telford Burn where the true left is followed down to the scrub belt. From here, and down in the forest, best travel is usually in the stream although there are decent animal trails on the banks. In February 2020 there was extensive flood damage in the Telford north branch, with the stream bed and banks full of rocks, but the going was pretty good.
