Cross the swingbridge at Windy Point and follow the marked track as it skirts deer-fenced farmland, climbing to pt603 where it is joined by the track coming downriver from the Doubtful. The track Te Araropa trail - sidles through bish on the valleyside, eventually dropping to flats and clearings - where Hope Halfway Hut is located.

This was an easy walk-in the dark once initial farmland had been negotiated. 2-3 hrs
