From Gerhardt Spur biv, follow the obvious ridge towards jumble top. At the saddle below Jumble Top, you could take the ridgeline over the peak and down to Squall Peak. We did not have ice axes and crampons, and ice on some of the steeper/exposed sections prompted us to sidle under jumble top along low alpine scrub and snowgrass. A poled route begins below Squall peak, and a recently tidied track descends extremely steeply in the bush to Cedar Flat hut.
