Follow tussock slopes up and left to the flattish area behind the 'pyramid'. This route is threatened by icecliffs but is not technical. Traverse L, crossing the main stream and scramble up and R to reach the top of the rockband. Climb the steep snowslope to reach the main glacier at around 1850m.
