Canterbury/Westland guide has a good description of this route. Pick up the Blue Lookout Track and follow to the lookout. Generally traverse with some ups and downs to the ridge above False Blue Lookout across some steep snowgrass terrain. Descend to the lookout. Form the lookout, descend to the E towards the streams draining pt 1994. Choose a likely spot and descend through steep vegetation to the river.
