On the Strachan side, this is not a tramping route and has steep exposed terrain above the Clarke Glacier. Even with belaying for about 100m, we wished for two ice-tools on the ever-increasing steep icy slopes. Gain height above the pass and choose the best looking line to reach the low point between Mt Lord & pt 2069m. Expect the need to belay.
Mt Lord is easily climbed from the low point and the descent to Vane Stream is straight forward.
