Heading south-west from the track junction at Mackingtosh Spur, the poled route climbs and swings west across rock and tussock tops to reach a further signposted junction 500m later at the Kaiarahi high point. Here tracks lead south over The Tits and the Rogue towards the lakes carpark, or east along the main range to Kiwi Saddle..
