From the Cameron Hut turnoff there are good views into the true left middle catchment of Kiwi Creek & further west to pt. 1191 & the ridge that runs north-south towards pt. 1238. From the Cameron Hut turnoff the track to Kiwi Saddle Hut continues north, passing some lovely gardens of alpine coprosma's. The track drops steeply for 300m along the west side of the ridgeline as it passes through areas of fine gravel & clay-pan, reaching Kiwi Saddle 300m below. This short descent is exposed & marked by cairns & intermittent poles. Upon reaching the flat saddle below, markers desert you & you make your way though a couple of pockets of manuka before encountering Kiwi Saddle Hut about 20m inside the bushedge.
