From Crawford Junction Hut a sidle track leads up the Kokatahi 1.5km to Clarke Creek, crossing the river by way of a cableway. This track was overgrown and rough in 2007.

From the Clarke Creek confluence, head downriver on the true left side. A roughly cut, overgrown track was present in 2007. After 1km a cableway crosses back to the true right. Crawford Junction Hut is 500m beyond.
