Everyone I know who has been up the Murchinson has crossed the lake by boat, either using the Glacier Boats, who are happy to do dropoffs / pickups or using their own dinghy.

Low iceberg number at present (2015) make dinghy option more attractive. Back in 2007 the lake was a labyrinth of channels through unstable floating ice, and a professionally run boat seemed the better option.
