From the summit and junction with the main ridge north, a marked, cut DOC track runs south to pt 690 before swinging east and descending to Te Pourewa Hut. 200m before the hut the track drops to a sidestream (ankle deep in normal flows), which must be crossed, climbing the far bank to a low saddle before descending again to the hut. Te Pourewa Hut sits on the bushedge at the start of large scrubby/weedy paddocks - on the track.
