A good track maintained by Permolat sidles the southern valleyside from the signposted track junction at the Waitaha swingbridge to Moonbeam Hut. The hut sits on a terrace some 50m above the river, 150m upriver from Moonbeam Torrent. Some older maps have the location wrong.
