Flow Kiwi Flat Hut, drop to the river, cross Whirling Water, and follow the riverbank down the flat on the true left (south). Just before the end of the flats, two small creeks enter from the south. Head up the first (easternmost) os these two creeks. A permolat marker lets you know you're int he right place. After 50m a second marker marks the start of the track on the eastern (true right) bank. The track climbs steeply up the spur east of Labyrinth Creek all the way to the bushedge at pt1125. The track is maintained by Permolat and was well marked, and in reasonable condition (2016). Be warned, this is a steep, relentless climb - 900m with no respite.

At the bushedge, head due south over pt1125. There are occasional warratahs, but not enough to guide your way. Cruise tape may be present to help. Due south of pt1125, on the bushedge, the permolat-marked track starts again, dropping directly to Scamper Torrent at the lower end of the flats. The track is cut through scrub but tall grass is present making it slow going. Just before the river the track cuts 20m downstream to avoid bluffs before dropping to the stream.

To reach Scamper Torrent Hut, head up the riverbed, crossing as required (though you can stick to the true left if necessary). At the major forks, take the true left (northern) branch. 50m beyond, the river swings south and a grassy face lies in front of you. Climb the face to find Scamper Torrent Hut on the flat above.
