A good public 4WD road climbs from Mitchell's Cottage to the summit of the Old Man Range. 2WD access is generally possible part, sometimes all of the way dependent on the track condition. It's s long walk, and even longer bike-ride to the top!

The public 4WD Symes Road drops east from Old Man Range to Mitchell's Cottage where asphalt begins. It's an 1100m descent to SH6 - good fun on an MTB.
