A rough DOC tramping track runs up Irthing Stream from the Irthing Picnic Area to Mansion Hut. One creek crossing is required - and can be impassable after rain.

From the picnic area head up the east bank on the walking track. The track is marked and cut but can be vague in places where the river bank has collapsed. After 1.5km the track crosses a large clearing, cutting back into the bush on the eastern bank beyond. After a further 2km the track crosses tot he western bank. The crossing in ankle to knee deep in normal flows and can flood.

From the crossing the track continues a further 3km to Mansion Hut - this section can be boggy in places. The basic 2-bunk hut is located in a small clearing at the end of the track.
