From just east of the summit of Pt1543 descend down scree then tussock to reach easier terrain at about 1440m. I descended to the southeast from here into Cascade Creek but this was a very steep descent down tussock with some tricky sections above small bluffs. In hind site I would recommend staying to the main ridge to the southwest to look for a descend into Cascade Creek closer to Pt1413.

Once down the steep slopes, drop down to the main branch of Cascade Creek, south of its obvious gorge which drops down from the Duck/Cascade Creek saddle. The flat ground near the creek was swampy in December 2019 but there was some good camp sites in the creek bed itself on grassy bends.
