The cut/marked track climbs steeply starting at Truran Saddle (not further south as shown on older maps). The clear tops are reached at around 1250m (750m above the saddle). A large DOC triangle marks the turnoff to Dickie Spur Hut, 400m off the main ridgeline in the basin to the NE. The route to the hut is sparsely poled and some parties report trouble locating the hut in poor visibility.

Climb west to the ridgeline from Dickie Spur Hut, following the poled route. A large DOC triangle marks the junction with the track down Dickie Spur. The track is cut/marked to Truran Saddle some 700m below. The turnoff to Polluck Creek at the saddle is marked only with permolat (no signpost).
