The New Chum Gully track starts 30m north of Norman Spence Bridge on the eastern bank. The junction is not signposted (2020) but an orange triangle marks the track start.
The cut / marked tramping track makes a steep zigzag climb gining 100m before sidling over a shoulder into New Chum Gully. The track drops gently into New Chum Gully before making a steep brief climb up the south face to join a water race heading up the gully. A second steep climb leaves the water race and gains the flatter tops of hill 668. Passing through broom and grassy clearings the track skirts farmland to reach a signposted junction with Link Track just east of the highpoint.
