A distinct 4WD track continues south from Palmer Hut towards Palmer Stream. The 4WD track descends from the terrace Palmer Hut is located on, across a grassy flat, all-the-while gradually moving away from the Clarence River, & up into the wide & stony Palmer Stream valley, where pt. 1014 stands guard & a stand of willow trees occupy the TL bank. Continue along the 4WD track, which criss-crosses Palmer Stream with the flow being ankle to shin deep. At the head (2km from the Clarence River) of this wide part of Palmer Stream can be seen more willows, where the route swings south-east. Follow the stream bed, south-east, for 1km, crossing as required & alternating between the stream bed itself & the sides of the stream. The valley walls begin to close in but travel remains easy in the stream. Rounding the corner, from the spur that runs south-west from pt. 1112, the valley opens up to the east, with pt. 1117 dominating the south-east skyline.
