From pt. 1354 head north for 150m towards a small rounded bump on the ridge. As you descend the ridge lookout for an orange metal triangle on the western side of the ridge. Note, this triangle is not obvious from atop pt. 1354. From the triangle sidle across to the fine scree, make your way down. Once near the bottom, sidle across towards the next orange metal triangle. From this second triangle, pick up the third orange metal triangle & sidle across to it, while gently descending. This third triangle is the last one. From it, sidle across the mostly tussock face towards the ridge that descends due west from pt. 1354. Whilst sidling, drop gently & a faint ground trail can be scene at times.

At a flat knob above pt. 967, a spur junction is met. On the northern of the two spurs, a faint ground trail can be made out leading away along the ridge. It is this spur you want to descend. It leads in a north-northwest direction. Note: if you reach pt. 967, you have missed the spur. Climb back up to the correct knob. Descend the aforementioned spur & you will come across small pieces of surveyors tape tied to pieces of scrub, namely matagouri. These become more numerous as you descend the spur.

30-40 minutes from beginning the descend of the spur, a cairn on the ridge is met, along with 2-3 pieces of surveyors tape in close proximity to each other. This marks the point to leave the spur & begin the sidle due south across the face. The sidle track is well worn, well cut & comparatively well marked. Halfway along, it drops into a small gully, climbs out of the other side & keeps sidling, emerging at the rear of the biv.

Note: Do not descend via the craggy, unstable & loose rocks along the ridge, due west of pt. 1354.
