From Lake Waikareiti Shelter the track is well maintained and mostly very easy gradient. There are a few small climbs once the track gets to the north side of the track and here the track gets a bit rougher in paces.
The hut is 10min downhill from the junction with Kaipo Lagood track and is in a stunning location looking down the lake.
