From the Ecology confluence camp, cross the river on the down stream side of Ecology. Permolat and sign posted to Mangamaire. Follow permalats up the ridge on to the tops, through the saddle and on to the Makorako Range. Unmaintained trail follows the ridgeline through open tops and small pockets of bush. Good water and camp south of 1516m then again 100m east of the saddle north of 1396m. Small campsite here if you want before you climb Makorako. 1- 1.5hrs to Summit.
