The main area most people camp at are under the trees north of the pit toilet. Cross the boggy ground on Greenstone Saddle and look for one of several animal breaches in the dense wall of scrubby trees on the eastern side of the valley. Enter the bush and pick your way up hill. The bush is very mossy but fairly open and the climb isn't difficult. You should encounter the small stream coming down from the tarns above in about 20 minutes from first entering the bush. It can be followed for a bit but the bush starts slowly becoming more open to the northeast away from the stream.

Above 900m you should find fairly large, interconnected clearings which give way to the open tops before the 1000m contour. Continue climbing to reach alpine wetlands and numerous tarns near Pt1085, the largest one has good camping on its southern end.
