East of Te Wetenga the track swings east then SE to drop down spurs to the forks of the Mangamairi below Mingimingi Saddle. Huts visible to the north are private and hunting is common, especially in the sika roar. The track vanishes as you drop into tall tussock and scrub: find your own route. Camping possible on terraces above forks, but tussock is tall. Mingimingi small and crossable in all conditions. 1-2 hrs (4-8hrs) Rangitikei to Mangamairi.
