From the signposted junction just north of Kaweka J, a well-used poled route drops east down the prominent Makahu Spur. The surface is sharp, loose rock and scree. Makahu Saddle Hut is visible far below, a dot of orange, but Domine Biv is tucked round the north side of the spur put of sight, 300m below the main range. A signpost at the turnoff leads to a 30m track round the corner to where the biv sits in a basin.
