From the turnoff, the Kaweka Biv track starts by dropping 100m to Kaiarahi Creek: a good cot, marked zigzag track through beech forest down to the creek and back up again. Heading SW the track crosses a couple more small creeks - nothing more than a 40m descent, alternating between pine, manuka and beech forest. The map shows a direct track across the north fork of the Tutaekuri, but this has been closed and the only track on the ground detours 500m upriver to the former Kaweka Biv site below Cooks Horn Basin. Here it crosses the 1st creek, then the small ridge, and descends the 2nd creek back to the original line of the track. Nothing like what is shown on the map.

Back on the original track, a short, easy 60m climb follows to the base of The Rogue Spur, where a signpost marks the junction with The Rogue track.
