Heading NE from the track junction slightly west of the Kurikapango summit, the track continues to follow the ridgeline, generally sidling north of its summit. The track wanders & climbs through pockets of manuka & pines & then enters a section of beautiful beech-leaved tracks with velvet-like moss carpets either side & then pops out of the bush onto open tops at pt. 1359. From this vantage point there are views down towards the Cameron Hut area & further afield to Mt Ruapehu, which it's heading sitting above pt. 1191. Beyond pt. 1359 the track teeters between bush to the north & scree faces to the south as it drops over a couple of saddles & makes the steep, loose climb to the Cameron Hut track junction. The junction is signposted on the bushedge on the unnamed summit 1km south of Kiwi Saddle Hut.
