After cross the western branch of Steel Creek a good track continues down stream to reach long river flats where the markers end. Follow the flats all the way down. The flats narrow towards their sothern end, with scrub closing in from the west. The last section is right down at water edge level which could get blocked off if the river floods, (there is a flag taped route through the scrub to the hut if this happens but its start isnt obvious to find). Just before you reach the bush at the southern end of the flats scramble up a grassy bank away from the river and follow a short unmarked path through the bushes which leads you past some camp sites to Steele Creek Hut. The flood route starts at the north side of these camp sites.
