Leave the carpark and take the first junction right marked by the Te Ramaroa sign. This is a loop walk (it climbs up to join the Te Kouka track, but we will carry on up the stream). More details here:

Follow the farm track up the stream - look out for cattle! When the marked road leaves the stream, you'll be on unmarked 'trail'. Stay up on the true left of the stream and carry on up. The stream passes under a fence to keep stock out of the forestry section. Pop over hte fence and join the farm track that goes beside (tru left) then climbs up via the stream. Follow the stream up and at a minor junction near the top, stay on the tru right side. No worries if you don't - you'll climb up onto the road anyway where you can backtrack along the road to the junction. You'll pass a pond at the top just below the junction.
