From the beach at the head of Mike Lake, climb the ridge to the south on reasonable deer trails until clear of the bush. Follow along the ridge past Prong Lake. Lake 840 can be passed on either side. Follow over Pt 1184, and descend to the next scrubby saddle, then cross Pt 872, to another scrubby saddle. Then climb the tussocky ridge to Pt 1290, and trace the tussock covered ridge line to Pt 1164.
