From Back Ridge Hut the track crosses the small stream (should be crossable in almost any weather) and climbs, sidling west on the open face opposite. Crossing a small spur, the track meets the ridgeline at Sterns Saddle where a signpost marks the junction.

From Sterns Saddle, the Back Ridge Hut track cuts east, sidling the face to cross a rocky knoll/ spur from which Back Ridge Hut is visible below. The track drops & sidles to a small un-named & easily-crossed creek. Back Ridge Hut is on the edge of a small copse of beech on the opposite bank.
