The 4WD track continues up the north bank of the Avoca from Easy Stream, crossing later to the south. The crossing is knee deep in normal conditions but could flood. The 4wd track stops 1km below the hut, and after a brief 200m section on the river bank a DOC triangle marks the start of a tramping track. This climbs steeply through beech to a terrace above the valley and sidles to the Avoca Hut.
