Just downstream of the confluence with the Huxley, a vague 4WD track crosses the Hopkins valley floor to Red Hut on the bushedge on the eastern side. The river is crossable in normal flows (knee to thigh deep) and flat flowing on good gravel, but can easily flood after rain blocking any crossings.
