From Anticrow Hut a brief sidle track climbs slightly above the valley floor, avoiding a small stream which undercuts the southern bank. This returns to the Waimakariri flats 500m beyond, and then continues across gravel and tussock flats.
The Jordan stream is crossed 2km later. In most flows the Jordan can be crossed without problems (<knee deep in normal conditions) but it has the potential to flood in extreme weather.
