A viable route exists from Te Hekenga highpoint to Triangle hut down the ridge SW over pt1523.
Heading west from Te Hekenga, the ridge swings SW past the tops of several slips - but the ridgeline is stable tussock and this is a tramp - not a technical route nor a scramble. Passing pt 1523 the ridge drops into scrub, where an unofficial track has been occasionally cut through the scrub layer. This was well cut and clear in 2006, and follows the crest of the spur. On reaching mature bush the cut track ends, and you are left to wander down the spur as works best. The lower end of the spur is ill-defined, and I found myself dropping off the southern side and hitting the creek well up from Triangle Hut. From here I descended the creek to the forks where Triangle hut sits on the Southern bank. The creek was small and has been easily crossable even after rain, but could flood in extreme conditions.
