At the signposted turnoff just south of Mad Dog Hill, drop down a SW leading spur into the head of the Studholme catchment. The route descends the sparsely poled spur & the first 100m is down through loose but easy scree. The next few hundred metres require full attention as the route descends, zigzagging down a steep narrow rocky rib, where a cairn marks the point to drop west off the spur to the bush line where a large orange triangle is to be found. The track descends through the bush along a good ground trail to a small log-jammed stream which Studholme Saddle Hut sits.
