Pick up the markers for the Mt Royal track to the west of the summit, and follow the well maintained path SSW along the ridge until it turns SE and drops off the ridge at pt1198. There route continuing along the main range to Mt Fishtail is not signposted, but a reasonable well-traveled ground trail branches off the Mt Royal track WSW along the ridgeline.
